What ABC News Asked Me About Thought Leadership (And Why It Matters to You)

Hi Reader,

On Friday, I had the honor of being interviewed by ABC4 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to discuss one of my favorite topics: thought leadership — and how we help subject-matter experts transform into trusted, visible thought leaders.

One of the questions that came up was: Why does thought leadership matter so much right now?

Here’s a statistic that might surprise you:
64% of buyers say that an organization’s thought leadership content is more trustworthy than its marketing materials. (LinkedIn-Edelman Study)

In other words: great thought leadership builds trust before the first handshake. It becomes the marketing fuel that drives your business forward — expanding your influence, credibility, and ultimately your bottom line.

I shared one of my favorite quotes during the interview from Jeff Bezos:

"Your brand is what people say about you when you’re not in the room."

But here’s my take on it:
Your brand walks into the room before you do.

Before anyone decides to hire you, collaborate with you, or buy from you, they Google you. They look you up online and in seconds, they form a first impression based on what they find (or don’t find).

That’s why building your brand as a thought leader is no longer optional, it’s essential.

When you show up as a trusted authority before you even speak, you’re already halfway to the sale, the partnership, or the opportunity you want.

If you’re serious about being the first choice in your field, thought leadership isn’t a "nice to have." It’s the strategy that puts you there.

PS. If you want to build a thought leader brand that makes a powerful first impression — but you’re not sure where to start — I’m offering a free brand audit to help you move in the right direction.

Already have your brand foundation, but need more visibility (like a TV interview to take things to the next level)? Let’s talk. Just reply to this email with “I’m ready” and I’ll send you the next steps!

With Gratitude,
Tara
