In 2022, I was sitting at my desk in a corporate job that looked good on paper.
Steady paycheck, respected title, company car, and a career I had worked hard to build.
And every morning, I felt a little more of myself slip away.
It wasn't dramatic. There was no single bad day that pushed me out the door. It was quieter than that. It was the Sunday night dread. The meetings where I nodded along while my mind drifted to the work I actually wanted to do. The slow realization that I was living a life built by circumstance, not by design.
That job had become a drain on my soul and one day, I simply couldn't do it anymore.
Here's what changed for me
For years, I stayed because I was afraid. Afraid of failing, afraid of rejection, and afraid of what people would think if I walked away from something "good."
But then something shifted.
I realized the cost of staying the same had started to outweigh the cost of failure or rejection.
Failure, I could recover from. Rejection, I could learn from. But spending another decade disconnected from my purpose? That was a price I was no longer willing to pay.
So I left...
What I know now
Leaving didn't give me all the answers. But it gave me room to find them. It gave me space to step into speaking, coaching, writing, and the work I believe I was created to do.
And today, I get to help others do the same.
I work with physicians who are ready to leave medicine and build a career in speaking. Corporate leaders who are ready to step out on their own, or step up into the C-suite. Subject-matter experts who want to land TEDx talks and build personal brands that reflect who they truly are.
Every one of them came to the same moment I did. They realized their purpose wasn't part of their current path. And they wanted a future built by intention, not just circumstance.
Now I want to ask you
What is it costing you to stay the same?
Think beyond your paycheck. Consider your energy, your health, and your peace.
Sit with that question and be honest with yourself. The answer might surprise you.
Hear the full story soon
I recently sat down with my friend Gill Tiney, who I had the honor of sharing the TEDx stage with in Nottingham, England in 2024, as a guest on her podcast (Spotify link below). We talked about purpose, courage, and what it really takes to make a leap. I'll be sharing that conversation with you soon, so keep an eye on your inbox.
And if you're feeling that restlessness right now, I'd love to hear from you. Just hit reply and tell me where you are in your journey.
