One of my favorite quotes from Marian Wright Edelman, civil rights activist and founder of the Children’s Defense Fund. She used it in the context of representation, possibility, and identity formation.
What she understood and what most people overlook is that vision doesn’t just inspire action; it permits it. When someone can finally see themselves in a future they once thought was unavailable, something internal shifts.
Sight is the fourth step in the GRASPMethod for a reason. Gratitude stabilizes you. Responsibility anchors you. Action moves you forward. But without Sight, momentum eventually collapses and motivation fades.
Most people don’t fail because they lack desire or inspiration. They fail because they are trying to move toward something they cannot yet picture themselves inhabiting.
Remember, visualization is not fantasy. It is rehearsal.
Scripture reminds us, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). Not because people are incapable but because without vision, effort loses direction.
Sight is the ability to see yourself: • showing up consistently • speaking with authority • finishing what you start • inhabiting the next level before it becomes familiar
If you cannot see yourself running the business, writing the book, leading the room, or carrying the responsibility you say you want; you will unconsciously sabotage the path toward it.
Not because you’re broken, but because your nervous system protects what feels familiar.
This is why Sight matters.
High performers don’t wait until success arrives to see themselves differently. They train their inner world to match the future they’re building. They rehearse identity before reality catches up.
So here’s your pause point today:
What version of you are you asking action to build, without ever allowing yourself to see it?
Close your eyes for a moment. See yourself finishing. See yourself leading. See yourself steady, confident, consistent.
Then ask: What would someone who already sees this life do today?
That’s your next move...because clarity doesn’t come first.
Here's a sneak peak into something I am building...
This is where Sight becomes collective.
I’m currently gathering an aligned launch team for my next book, and I’d love your support.
This book has been written with intention, prayer, and lived experience and I don’t want to release it alone. I want to release it with people who believe in the message and are willing to help carry it forward.
As a member of the launch team, you’ll receive:
Early access to read the book before it’s released
Behind-the-scenes updates as the book comes to life
And as a thank-you, one launch team member will receive a bonus prize valued at $2,500!
If this message resonates with you; if you believe in leadership, faith, action, and becoming who you’re called to be...this is a powerful way to be part of the journey.
If you’d like to join the launch team, reply to this email. I’ll personally send next steps.
Thank you for seeing this vision with me before the world does!
With Gratitude, Tara LaFon Gooch
